Expert Gardeners

YardSprout can help you find Expert Gardeners and other Food Producers in the Triangle area of North Carolina, including Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Morrisville, Hillsborough, and Pittsboro.

What’s an Expert Gardener?

We’re looking for talented, seasoned, and successful gardeners who know how to plan and plant a productive food growing garden on all sorts of land: residential front and back yards, school yards, places of worship, business and corporate property, college campuses, and city land.

YardSprout is Seeking Expert Gardeners!

How can I Work with YardSprout?

During the fall and winter months of 2011/2012, our goal is to connect Expert Gardeners with local consumers (home-owners, renters, businesses, churches, schools) to start or improve their veggie gardens and other resources on their properties.   Fall and Winter are a great time to plan a garden, condition the soil, and prepare the space for a spring garden in 2012.  We’ll help match gardeners to yards and customers, figure out a great compensation structure, and help get all the right resources in place, with your guidance and partnership.

  1. Hi Team,
My company is based out of Durham and we are a landscape architecture design and build firm that specializes in wholistic, productive landscapes throughout the Triangle area. It is our business to do what you are doing here. We work at residential, corporate, institutional scale and have helped individuals, schools, neighborhood associations, and corporate campus better improve the overall environment through diverse and productive site design, planting plans and installation. We also have a micro-farm at UF2200 which has been in production for three years and doing a small CSA. I also do flower arrangements for special events and restaurants. We are a team of 7-9 employees with varied experience. I am co-owner, landscape architect licensed in NC. My business partner is a landscape contractor licenced in NC. Team members have expertise in building, agriculture, horticulture and archeology. We collaborate with artists, civil engineers, educators, musicians and others. We believe and practice wholistic approaches to land use, both in how water is addressed on site, how people use the site, and how the plant materials enrich and feed the people who tend and live in them. We would love to talk to you about developing your company in the Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh area.

  2. Y’all should know about Bountiful Backyards – they are doing similar work in Durham, designing and installing edible landscapes. http://bountifulbackyards.com

Also, http://youtube.com/usefulplants has lots in good information about taking care of fruit trees and berry bushes in this bioregion (they are based in Western North Carolina, but make regular deliveries to the Triangle).
